The remaining area is fallow land, cultivable land, and non-cultivable land. The existing terrestrial configuration will undergo progressive changes due to proposed opencast mine and underground mine development, coal extraction, creation of haul roads, dumps, reclamation, and rehabilitation during mining process.
1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? Yes Opencast and underground working will result in loss of homesteads/buildings that may come into use in quarrying zone, safety zone and infrastructure areas including loss of vegetation. Dhirauli, Phatpani, Sirswah, Amdand, Jhalari, Amraikhoh, Bansibridha, and Belwar villages are lying within the block has been identified to be rehabilitated and resettled. The displaced families are proposed to be rehabilitated and resettled colony in a nearby area after discussion with villagers.
1.3 Creation of new land uses? Yes Present land use will undergo gradual changes during mine life due to mine development, coal extraction, storage, loading/ unloading, transportation and rehabilitation.
1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore houses, soil testing? Yes CMPDI and other agencies have drilled a number of boreholes within the block during the course of geological exploration. All relevant geological information for these boreholes along with number of boreholes falling within a distance of 200 m from the block boundary have been considered for geological modelling of the Dhirauli block.
1.5 Construction works? Yes Mine office building, rest house, canteen, Service / Welfare, Workshops, Coal handling Plant, Store, Substation, Roads, Culverts, magazine and other associated ancillary facilities etc in the Mining lease area.
1.6 Demolition works? Yes Village houses, tube wells and open wells and other buildings falling in the quarry zone will be demolished and suitably rehabilitated in accordance with R&R plan.

Surface miner has been planned for improving the coal quality by selective band removal from Seams, deployment of surface miner for coal has been envisaged along with 30 T dump trucks. Also underground mining will be carried out through a continuous miner.
1.14 Facilities for storage of goods or materials? Yes A store will be set up for starting the opencast / underground mining operations and during the construction stage of the mining. Diesel pump facility will be installed for the fuel requirement of HEMM. Magazine for explosives with adequate safety equipment as per norms.
1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents? Yes The total volume of OB has been estimated as 1963.55 Mcum. The OB removed during initial years will be placed beyond the incrop of the seam VII as external dump. The total volume of external dump has been estimated as 259.01 Mm3. Rest of the OB will be placed as internal dumps. The total volume of internal OB, i.e. the volume which will be accommodated internally by backfilling has been estimated as 1704.54 Mm3.
1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers? Yes Community buildings, offices, workshop & stores, sub-stations, magazine & other statutory buildings will be constructed.
1.17 New road, rail or sea traffic during construction or operation? Yes Existing road network is adequate for transportation. If required Haul roads will be constructed within the ML area as well as approach roads to project will be developed.

1.20 New or diverted transmission lines or pipelines? Yes Total 5 transmission line (132kv- one line to 765 kv – 4 lines) is passing from the block which is proposed to divert from outside of Dhirauli coal block.
1.21 Impoundment, damming, culverting, realignment or other changes to the hydrology of watercourses or aquifers? No Hurdul nala and its tributaries flowing from almost East to West in the Central Part. A few small nalas are also flowing in the northern and southern side of block.
1.22 Stream crossings? Yes As some of the quarry falls in the HFL of Hurdul Nala, it is proposed to construct the flood protection embankments.
1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water from ground or surface waters? Yes Mine water is generated from two sources (a) Ground water: as the quarry goes deeper, more and more aquifers are intercepted and volume of water increases, (b) Rain water Harvesting: direct precipitation over the excavated area and surface run-off flowing into the mine during rains.
1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or run-off? Yes All precautions to be taken for inundation from surface water flow. As some of the quarry falls in the HFL of Hurdul Nala, it is proposed to construct the flood protection embankments. Garland drains around the proposed quarry boundaries will be provided and periodically maintained for adequate safety measure. Proper drainage system will be provided in the haul roads.
1.25 Transport of personnel or materials for construction, operation or decommissioning? Yes Existing road network is adequate for transportation. If required Haul roads will be constructed within the ML area as well as approach roads to project will be developed.

However, efforts will be made to cover more area for the activities depending upon availability of land in the forest area. The noise level inside operator cabins will be maintained below 75 dB (A) to 85 dB (A). Adequate noise control equipment’s like mufflers, acoustic enclosures to equipment’s etc. will be installed. Regular maintenance of the mining machinery will help in reducing these noise levels.
6.2 From industrial or similar processes Yes The noise levels during blasting operations are likely to be in the range of 120-130 dB(A) at 50-200 m distance from the blast site. The noise levels tend to decrease with distance towards mine boundary. As the blasting is last for short duration depending on the charge, the noise levels over this time would be instantaneous and short induration.
6.3 From construction or demolition Yes During construction and decommissioning phases, there will be temporary noise generation.
6.4 From blasting or piling Yes Noise will be generated during blasting operations, which will be restricted and controlled by scientific methods. Precautions will be taken to minimize the noise and vibration during blasting.
6.5 From construction or operational traffic Yes During operation, noise will be generated due to movement of dumpers, HEMM and other vehicles used during mine operation. HEMM & dumpers would be maintained properly to keep noise levels within limits. Use of horns near human habitat and other sensitive receptors shall be restricted. Movement of mining equipment’s near the habitation will be restricted to the day time.
