1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of land use (with respect to local land use plan) Yes The total land requirement for this project is 718.073 ha and out of this 27.51 Ha is government land , 62.496 Ha is tenancy land and 628.067 Ha is forest land. Land required for UG mining operation is 705.433 Ha and for mining infrastructure is 12.640 Ha. Gandhigram village is proposed to be re-located at a new site.

1.7 Temporary sites used for construction works or housing of construction workers? Yes A few of temporary site structures will be constructed during development period for contractual workers and the same will be removed after completion of the contracts.
1.8 Above ground buildings, structures or earthworks including linear structures, cut and fill or excavations and fill or excavations Yes Major infrastructures like pit-office, cap lamp room, sub-station, workshop, stores, approach road, coal handling plant, culverts, office buildings, magazine building etc. will be developed. 1.9 Underground works including mining or tunnelling? Yes This is an underground project. Mining development will be done by Bord and Pillar method and extraction by caving. This will employ continuous miner and LHD both to extract the planned quantity of coal.
1.10 Reclamation works? Yes The subsidence due to caving will be maintained within the permissible limit and closely monitored. Control measures are: Cracks if any will be filled and depressions if any will be made up. 1.Around the depillaring area, co-related on the surface, protective bunds and garland drains shall be laid 2.The surface cracks shall be sealed by using clay or other suitable material. Depressed portions shall be leveled using soil or clay or other suitable material.

1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents? Yes Solid Waste – There will be no generation of solid waste. Excavated material will be meager and will be used for making embankment around mine entries Liquid Effluent – Mine Pumped Out Water – Initial sedimentation in the mine sump in underground working & supernatant water is pumped out from UG and treated on surface in Sedimentation tank. Domestic Effluent – Treatment in septic tank and Soak pit provided with residential unit.
1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers? Yes The total manpower requirement is 603. No additional residential quarters have been proposed for Gandhigram U/G Mine. The existing residential quarters in Pathakhera and Shobhapur townships shall cater to the residential needs of Gandhigram U/G Mine. Capital provision for renovation of 322 quarters has been made since these quarters are quite old.
