An extent of 498.87.0 Ha will be under Mining use. There will be no Top Soil/OB Dump. Wet Beneficiation Plant over an extent of 29.0 Ha (is also proposed to reduce the Silica Content. The deposit will be mined by a simple system of simultaneous development, production and refilling by the same excavator called strip mining. Thus, there will be no Top Soil/OB Dump as the entire Top Soil will be refilled in the mined out pit simultaneously.

The total area of the Lease is 498.87.0 Ha. Out of which the effective area available for mining will be 371.57.5 Ha. At Conceptual Stage, about 252.08 Ha will be refilled, 29.50 Ha under Infrastructures and 60.00 Ha will be under Green Belt.

Reserves have been estimated & Scheme of Mining also approved by IBM in respect of existing granted Lease area of the applicant which is located just opposite to the applied area.

Small Mine Offices will be constructed on temporary structures. Also, the existing screening system established in the currently operating mining lease will be shifted to this quarry lease area, as such. Additionally, Wet Beneficiation Plant will be there.

The deposits will be mined by a simple system of simultaneous development, production and refilling by the same excavator called strip mining. The ratio of ore (clean Kankar) to O.B works out to be 1:2. Simultaneous reclamation activities will be continued upto the end of mine life.

Non-conventional Opencast Mechanized Opencast Mining, without Drilling and Blasting, will be adopted. Proposed production would be about 1.333 MTPA as Run-Off Mine (ROM) basis. The Wet Beneficiation Plant (Washing, Grinding and Floatation) for the ROM Kankar throughput quantity will be 1.85 MTPA. ROM material from other & future leases will be fed.

ROM material from the mine will be beneficiated and transported to the Cement Plant. The tailings/screened reject will be separately stacked in the mine itself. The top soil/OB will be used for simultaneous backfilling.

Liquid Effluents : Domestic sewage generation, from each QL, will be about 2.5 KLD which will be biologically treated in a Septic Tank followed by a Dispersion Trench. No workshop is proposed. The effluent from the Beneficiation Plant will be recycled to the Process. There will be no effluent discharge from the Beneficiation Plant. Solid Wastes : Top Soil and Tailings/Screened wastes will be backfilled in the mined out pit simultaneously.

These Captive Mines, Pandalgudi Crusher and also RR Nagar Cement Plant are connected with RCL’s own Tar road. This Mine will also utilise the extended own Haul Road to the Pit.

Madurai-Thoothukudi Section of National Highway NH-38 (earlier NH45B) runs North-South direction in the central part of the Mines area. Several State Highways and District Roads are well connected to Aruppukottai Town.

These Captive Mines, Pandalgudi Crusher and also RR Nagar Cement Plant are connected with RCL’s own Tar road. This QLs will also utilise the extended own Haul Road to the Pit.

50 metres safety distance on either side of Low Tension Electric Power line running in the direction of North East -South West will be provided.

There are Seasonal First and Second order streams originating from the QL Areas and joins the Uppu Odai, the safety barrier of 50 metres on either side of Odais/Nallahs are provided and the Nallahs and their flows will be maintained as such till the Conceptual Stage.

As it is a shallow mining upto a depth of 3.0 m BGL and simultaneous refilling is proposed. Mining will not intersect the Ground Water-table. The QL requires about 3 KLD drinking water for domestic consumption which will be supplied from the RO Plant at Pandalgudi Mine. Water requirement for the Beneficiation Plant will be about 2,500 KLD. The required water will be sourced from existing Captive Mine Pits in Pandalgudi Region as well as from Borewells
