Out of this 112.621Ha is forest land which will be diverted for mining and allied purposes. Netrabandha Pahar block is located on a hill area which will get excavated. Overburden, sub-grade and minerals will be disposed or stacked in allotted dumps and infrastructure will be constructed. The present surface plan showing the present topography and proposed topography at the end of mining which can be seen in Conceptual plan are uploaded as Additional Attachment.
1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? Yes The total mine lease area is 139.223 Ha covered with forest of 112.621 Ha, which will need Forest Clearance prior to mining. Trees and shrubs falling in the non-forest area but required for mining will also have to be removed with due permission from appropriate authority.
1.3 Creation of new land uses? Yes Infrastructural facilities/ offices, excavated area, plantation, dumps, green belt, mineral storage, power transmission line, Haul roads, strengthening of transportation roads, etc. will be created over non mineralized zone.
1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore houses, soil testing? No The prospecting operation had been carried out by the Directorate of Geology, Department of Steel & Mines, Govt. of Odisha, Bhu-Bigyan Bhawan, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha –751001 in the years 2012-13 & 2015-16. No additional impact due to pre-mining investigations are envisaged. Further exploration will be carried out on commencement of operation to establish ore bodies further if any.
1.5 Construction works? Yes Offices, workshop, stores will be constructed.
1.6 Demolition works? Yes Approximately 20 kuchcha houses will be demolished, which lie within the mine lease, subject to final survey.
1.7 Temporary sites used for construction works or housing of construction workers? Yes This will be for short term for less than 6 months when the office buildings will be constructed.

Yes A small store building will be developed in the block area over non mineralized zone which will be handed to the contractor for maintaining as its store. All the required spares will be stored in this store room. For storage of various types of oils and lubricants, a well-maintained room will be developed which will be used for the machinery to be deployed in the mine.
1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents? Yes Oil water separator and settling tank will be provided in workshop & 50% of the water will get re-circulated. There will not be any beneficiation plant. Rain water from the pit will be pumped out to surface reservoir, settled and then discharged into natural drainage system. For sewage management septic tanks shall be constructed with the toilets. Overburden generated will be dumped in the lease area and later on back filled in the excavated pit. Top soil will be simultaneously reused.
1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers? Yes A housing colony will be developed in between block area and Koira township.
1.17 New road, rail or sea traffic during construction or operation? Yes There will be an increase in road traffic due to transportation of iron ore to various industries as well as due to movement of manpower to and from mine on daily basis.
1.18 New road, rail, air water borne or other transport infrastructure including new or altered routes and stations, ports, airports etc? Yes For haulage of waste / ROM / sub grade material within the block area morrum roads, though very short in length, will be developed. This road will be maintained regularly using dozer / excavator. The width will be maintained at 10-12 mt and road gradient will not be more than 1 : 16 to 1 : 20. Access haul roads to the village road have to be constructed. Village roads will have to be strengthened. No new rail, air or water borne traffic is envisaged.
1.19 Closure or diversion of existing transport routes or infrastructure leading to changes in traffic movements? No No closures are envisaged and as such no changes of traffic movement will be required.
1.20 New or diverted transmission lines or pipelines? No No diversions are envisaged
1.21 Impoundment, damming, culverting, realignment or other changes to the hydrology of watercourses or aquifers? Yes Realignment of seasonal streams around north & south pits within first five years of operation is envisaged. Interceptor garland drain will have to be constructed along the mine pit. No impoundment or damming is envisaged. Culverts will be constructed on the roads, wherever stream crossing is encountered.
1.22 Stream crossings? Yes The water through the seasonal streams will be allowed to pass through the lease through the re-aligned route or redirected through interceptor drains. Culverts will be made wherever the proposed road has to cross the seasonal stream.
1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water from ground or surface waters? Yes Water collected during rains and surface water from Teherai Nala will be used for industrial use and ground water is proposed for drinking purpose.
1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or run-off? Yes There are no surface water bodies in the ML area except seasonal streams. The path of the seasonal streams will get excavated. Thus, to ensure the flow of water from upstream towards downstream is not affected, realignment of streams outside pit area shall be done. Interceptor garland drain along pit boundary shall be provided. The drainage system of the area is controlled by Teherai Nala and Khajurdihi Nala flowing from the Northern and Southern part of the block respectively.
1.25 Transport of personnel or materials for construction, operation or decommissioning? Yes Transportation of materials for construction of infrastructure and buildings will take place initially only. Thereafter, transportation of employed manpower and mined iron ore will take place.
1.26 Long-term dismantling or decommissioning or restoration works? Yes At ultimate stage all the waste material will be utilized for the reclamation of dead benches and no external waste dump will be available. The area occupied by waste dump shall be planted and handed over to the Forest Authority.

1.30 Loss of native species or genetic diversity? No Since a part of ML area is a forest area, trees within the same will have to be cut for undertaking excavation and other activities. A colony is proposed between the block & Koira. Due to commencement of the project villages en-route to the mine may experience development of housing facilities for visitors & local employees. Small kiosks & food stalls/eateries shall come up along the road side & in parking areas to serve the requirements of the drivers.

At ultimate stage, there will be no waste dump as the entire waste material of the dumps will be utilized for the reclamation of void created by pits, by backfilling. Positive impact is anticipated due to storage of water in abandoned mine void.
