State transmission utility (STU) shall be responsible for power evacuation from ex-bus of 400kV switchyard at 2x800MW Bandhaura Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant and shall create of power evacuation infrastructure from the Power Plant. Pipe-Line: Raw water supply to the proposed expansion is planned through an existing pipeline corridor.

No There will be no changes to the hydrology of the area due to the expansion of the plant. An area drainage study will be carried out along with EIA report and recommendation made thereunder will be implemented.

1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water from ground or surface waters? Yes Water requirement for proposed 2x800 MW expansion unit is about 35.04 MCM/year (4000m3/hr) which will be met from Rihand Reservoir. Water Allocation of 71.54 MCM/ Year has already been tied up from Rihand Reservoir through Water Resources Department, State Government of Madhya Pradesh and is enough to cater to operation of existing as well as expansion project.
1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or run-off? No The proposed expansion shall be developed within the plant premises of existing 1200 MW Mahan Thermal Power Plant. There are no water bodies and natural drains in the plant area. Hence, there would be no change in drainage pattern or run-off.

These inorganic wastes will be handed over to local municipality for proper disposal. We have also proposed to provide Organic Waste Converter for converting this waste into manure.

6.1 From operation of equipment e.g. engines, ventilation plant, crushers Yes The sources of Noise & Vibration generation in the unit will be steam turbine, generator, compressors, pumps, fans, coal handling plant etc. All machineries will be manufactured as per OSHA/MoEF&CC guidelines. Inbuilt enclosures, low noise trims, baffle plate silencer, insulation, vibration isolators for rotating equipment, padding at various locations are envisaged to control the noise and vibration and to limit the noise level from exceeding CPCB/MPPCB/MoEF stipulated norms.
6.2 From industrial or similar processes Yes Heat will be dissipated from boilers during coal burning to form steam. Adequate heat insulation provided in the operation area and will be established in the construction area. Noise would be generated during transportation of material / machine.
6.3 From construction or demolition Yes During site development and construction of the plant, noise will be generated from machines used. However these activities will be limited to the site only as the proposed expansion project is being developed within the existing plant premises.

6.5 From construction or operational traffic Yes About 70 – 75 dB(A) at plant boundary. There will be momentary increase in the noise level due to traffic during construction phase, as roads will bring lot of construction material. Similarly, operation phase will also add to some noise generation from loading/ unloading operation and from transportation of raw material. However, to control noise generation within the prescribed standard, all the vehicles carrying goods will be checked for fitness and certification from RTO as well as our HSE.

7.5 Is there a risk of long term build up of pollutants in the environment from these sources? No During process of material handling (Coal & Ash) and its transportation, there will be no built up of pollutants, whereas the power generation process is a closed process and TPPs are provided with ESPs. The emission of pollutants into the air will be dispersed due to wind. Hence, there is no possibility of dust fall and pollutants getting built-up. To avoid such risk, regular ambient as well as workplace monitoring will be performed periodically to assess the concentration of individual polluta

The basic wind speed of 39 m/s is considered for design of buildings/ structures as per IS: 875: Part III. All structures designed for seismic zone IV, one zone higher than as per IS: 1893, seismic forces considered as zone IV for the design structures/buildings.
