3. ADS Reply LetterStand.committee of National Board for Wildlife decided to recommend the proposal "renewal of clearance earlier granted under WPA, 1972 to Diamond Mining Project of total lease area of 275.963 Ha (113.332 Ha MML + 162.631 Ha SML) and at the same time to increase the periphery of mining pit within the lease area by about 10Ha of which 1.5 Ha fall inside forest area" subject to the conditions imposed by the CWLW and the NTCA. Letter dated 11/3/2021 received from Scientist D (WL) MOEF&CC is attached along with reply. It is therefore requested to arrange the visit of the sub-committee as decided by EAC in its meeting held on 3/2/2021 to DMP, Panna of NMDC. 20 Mar 2021
4.NA

The committee members felt that the issues related to Wildlife and measures for protection of tiger has not been properly addressed and due to sensitivity of the Panna (Gangau) Wildlife Sanctuary and Panna National Park which is also a Tiger Reserve, it is necessary to ascertain the ground reality on plantation, present mining status and abutting the wildlife boundary. The Committee was of the view that a site visit needs to be conducted by a sub committee comprising of EAC Members, officers from MoEF&CC and representative of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).The Committee directed the Ministry to constitute a sub committee on priority and submit its report at the earliest to enable the committee to take a decision on the proposal. The Committee deferred the proposal and is of the view that proposal may only be considered after all the statutory clearances obtained by the Project Proponent and site visit by sub Committee.
