This will have positive impact on the ground water scenario of the area.However, the exact effect on change in groundwater level and river regime will be studied during preparation of EIA / DPR study.
1.22 Stream crossings? Yes The link canal crosses no. of streams. Suitable cross drainage structure will be provided at each crossing.
1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water from ground or surface waters? Yes 202 Mcum of surface water is proposed to be diverted from Damangaga and Vaitarna basins to Upper Godavari region of Godavari basin as per pre-feasibility study. The exact quantum of diversion will be firmed up based on detailed Hydrological studies that would be undertaken as part of DPR.

Yes Creation of five reservoirs at dam sites shall result in additional water bodies.About 1230 ha of land would come under submergence. In addition about 360 ha would be required for the link canal. Further, there will be changes in land surface of command area as well. Appropriate structures will be constructed where the canal crosses natural streams so that the surface drainage is not affected.
