3.1 Use of substances or materials, which are hazardous (as per MSIHC rules) to human health or the environment (flora, fauna, and water supplies No The process of storage, treatment & disposal of hazardous waste is not likely to involve the use of hazardous chemical as per MSIHC Rules. All the industrial Hazardous waste collected at proposed site will be scientifically treated/ stabilized as per CPCB guidelines before disposing in secured landfill. Limited use of insecticides may be done to prevent mosquito breeding. Suitable drainage and waste management measures will be adopted in both the construction and operational phase which will restrict stagnation of water or accumulation of waste. This will effectively restrict the reproduction and growth of disease vectors. To prevent the adverse effects of hazardous waste during storage handling & disposal PPE shall be provided to workers.
3.3 Affect the welfare of people e.g. by changing living conditions? Yes The proposed expansion project of secured landfill site (Phase IV) of Integrated Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF) will provide employment to local people in the proposed area. The scientific management (storage, treatment & incineration) of Hazardous waste shall improve the overall environment of the area.
