1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of land use (with respect to local land use plan) Yes Proposed highway follows a completely new alignment. The stretch proposed for the construction of highways majorly comprises of agricultural land with small patches of Settlements. The landuse within the proposed RoW shall thus undergo a change. Proper mitigation measures shall be taken in order to neutralize the impacts on landuse.
1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? Yes Number of trees need to be felled and some structures need to be removed in order to construct the road. The Land acquisition is in progress and the details of the same shall be done.
1.3 Creation of new land uses? No The landuse within the proposed RoW shall thus undergo a change. Greenbelt development as a part of avenue and median plantation shall be done along both sides of the road and median.
1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore houses, soil testing? Yes Geotechnical investigation, Topographical & CPR survey, LA survey, Tree counting, soil testing etc. shall be conducted as a part of pre-construction investigation.

For treatment of sewage generated by workers, septic tanks or bio-toilets shall be installed at site / labour camps. Treated water obtained from them shall be utilized for greenbelt development and dust suppression. Thus diversion of traffic shall be planned before commencement of construction in consultation with local traffic police department and shall be duly implemented.

No The excavation required for construction of the highway shall be minimal and in no way shall intersect the groundwater table. Adequate cross drainage structures shall be provided to maintain the hydrology of the area. Hence any effect is not envisaged.
1.22 Stream crossings? Yes There are about 25 minor and 3 major bridges proposed across river and nalla crossings in the proposed stretch. The details shall be provided in the EIA report.
1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water from ground or surface waters? No Water to be utilized for construction shall be managed from Tanker Supply. In case water is required to be extracted from ground, it shall be made sure that prior approvals are obtained from concerned authority.
1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or run-off? Yes Temporary change is expected during construction, however, adequate nos. of cross drainage structures shall be provided to maintain the flow of the river.
1.25 Transport of personnel or materials for construction, operation or decommissioning? Yes The materials required for construction shall be transported on covered trucks, trolleys and tractors.

Yes Yes The proposed project shall affect the local communities positively as it shall enhance and improve the current route between Rajnandgaon and Basna without crossing Durg, Bhilai and Raipur which experiences heavy traffic in the peak hours.
3.4 Vulnerable groups of people who could be affected by the project e.g. hospital patients, children, the elderly etc. Yes The project alignment is mostly in open agricultural land. However, there are some schools, hospitals and other sensitive receptors along the existing alignment. Most of them are located at safe distance away from the road. All measures will be taken to avoid any negative impact due to increased traffic, noise levels and possibility of accidents. The proposed project would help the patients to approach to the hospital with minimum time and cost.
