Yes Pre-construction investigations viz., topographical surveys, traffic survey, sub grade soil investigation, sub-surface investigation using bore logs for structures and identification of new aggregate/sand quarries and borrow areas will be carried out during pre-construction stage.
1.5 Construction works? Yes The project implementation involves construction of 4/6 lane access controlled expressway connecting New Capital City Amaravati to Ananthapuramu. The project also involves the construction of culverts, bridges, ROBs, interchanges, junctions, pedestrian/animal underpasses, vehicle underpasses, side drains, etc.
1.6 Demolition works? Yes Clearance of vegetation and structures within proposed RoW will be undertaken. However, utmost care will be taken during the design phase towards restricting improvement works in the residential and commercial stretches, to the minimum.

The construction workers will be provided with the entire supporting infrastructure like toilet facilities, septic tanks, medical facility and recreation center etc., in an environmentally acceptable manner.

These will be reused for rehabilitation of borrow area/quarry sites, camp sites etc. The municipal solid wastes generated in will be disposed off to the nearest designated disposal/landfill sites. Demolition wastes will be reused in embankments, shoulders, slopes, approach roads etc. Unused waste will be dumped in earmarked dump yard as per guidelines.

If any transmission/pipe line crosses the alignment, it will be accordingly diverted during construction stage. Utility ducts will be provided along the alignment throughout the project stretch.
1.21 Impoundment, damming, culverting, realignment or other changes to the hydrology of watercourses or aquifers? No No change in hydrology of water courses is envisaged due to the project. Adequate number of balancing culverts will be provided to maintain the natural water flow and drainage.
1.22 Stream crossings? Yes The alignment is passing near to some of the big water bodies such as Brahmamasagar Lake, Velugodu reservoir, Cumbum Lake and other streams and water bodies. Besides these, emergency response plan will be in place towards meeting unforeseen emergencies. Trained personnel will be handling such materials and care will be taken so that spills are avoided and in case of spills, immediately they are contained.

At regular intervals disinfectants will be applied to restrict the growth of vectors. Suitable drainage and waste management measures will be adopted, which will restrict stagnation of water or accumulation of waste within the project site. This will effectively restrict the reproduction and growth of disease vectors.Medical facilities will be in place to look after the health of inmates of camp.
3.3 Affect the welfare of people e.g. by changing living conditions? Yes The proposed project is meant for improving Transport Infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh and boost the industrial & tourism by providing faster connectivity and more opportunities for locals. The project will give many benefits during construction & operation stage. Apart from better mode & frequency of transport, access to quality health care facilities, educational & other infrastructural facilities will increase. Agro-industrial activities will increase in urban areas.
3.4 Vulnerable groups of people who could be affected by the project e.g. hospital patients, children, the elderly etc. Yes The proposed project alignment is mostly in open agricultural land. However, there are some schools, hospitals and other sensitive receptors along the alignment. Most of them are located at safe distance away from the road. All measures will be taken to avoid any negative impact due to increased traffic, noise levels and possibility of accidents. The proposed expressway would help the patients to approach to the hospital with minimum time and cost.

4.1 Spoil, overburden or mine wastes Yes Spoil, overburden or mine waste will be generated during raw materials extraction and their processing. All these materials will be consumed for rehabilitation of borrow areas or filling of low lying/disfigured waste lands.

Top soil will be used as top layer in median filling & embankment slopes prior to turfing etc. Excavated materials will be reused in road embankments. Non-usable material will be used for reclamation/ rehabilitation of quarries and borrow pits. Overburden will be used for rehabilitation. Final surface will be made up from top soil rich in NPK will be layered to receive grass/vegetation.
4.6 Sewage sludge or other sludge from effluent treatment No It does not involve any permanent waste water from the proposed project. Hence, no sludge would be generated.
4.7 Construction or demolition wastes Yes Estimated waste generated from the project site during pre-construction and construction would be fairly considerable or sometimes negligible. These wastes would be used in strengthening of roads, shoulders, land filling of the proposed expressway.

5.1 Emissions from combustion of fossil fuels from stationary or mobile sources Yes During construction, a good number of trucks will carry the construction material for which emission of air pollutants will increase. All vehicles deployed for construction of the project will have to keep “Pollution Under Control” certificates. DG sets will emit air pollutants in the area during construction period. The emission generated during construction will be temporary and localized in nature. Proper mitigation measure will be taken to reduce air pollution from the construction site.

5.4 Emissions from construction activities including plant and equipment Yes The emissions from the construction activities envisaged are Hot mix/Batch mix/Stone crusher plants. Hot mix/Batch mix/Stone crusher plants shall be located at least 500 m away from the human habitation and reverse side of the predominant wind direction. Hot mix plant will be operated as per the regulatory limits of Andhra Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (APPCB).
5.5 Dust or odours from handling of materials including construction materials, sewage and waste Yes Water sprayed at mixing sites & temporary diversion haulage roads to suppress the dust. Vehicles delivering loose and fine materials will be covered with tarpaulins sheets. Tail boards will be provided to prevent spillage. Crushers will be operated as per APPCB guidelines. Yes Most of the area is hilly terrain with plateaus, Ridges, Gorges and Deep valleys which support tropical mixed dry deciduous and moist deciduous forests with an under growth of bamboo and grass. One Wildlife Sanctuary namely Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary (GBM) is falling at a radial distance of 6.23 Kms from their boundary to the proposed NH-544F. The proposal for obtaining the clearance from SBWL and NBWL is under process.
2 Areas which are important or sensitive for ecological reasons - Wetlands, watercourses or other water bodies, coastal zone, biospheres, mountains, forests Yes The project corridor is passes through Reserved Forests like Mutssukota, Sirivel, Nallamala, Ganugapenta, Uppumaguluru, Edavalli, Govindapuram ,Kavuru to an extent of 18.7 km. Forest area required is 378 ha for greenfield expressway. Wildlife Clearance application is in progress for obtaining the Certificate from Chief Wildlife warden for Gundla Brahmeswara WLS's for the distance from alignment. This certificate will be furnished in due course of time during EC process.
3 Areas used by protected, important or sensitive species of flora or fauna for breeding, nesting, foraging, resting, over wintering, migration No As per the preliminary study, there are no sensitive species of flora and fauna for breeding, nesting, foraging, resting, over wintering and migration are identified in the project. However, the detailed Ecology & Bio-diversity studies will be conducted and the same will be presented in the draft EIA& EMP Report.
