    33.         Project Benefits
S. No.Type of Project Benefits Details of Project Benefits
(1.)EnvironmentalThe proposed facility will help health care establishments (located in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya and Ramanagara Districts) dispose of the bio-medical waste generated in their premises in a scientific manner in compliance with the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 and subsequent amendments. The proposed facility will also help industries dispose of their incinerable hazardous waste in a scientific manner at an affordable cost.
(2.)SocialThe proposed facility will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities and is likely to increase the socio-economic status of the nearby villages. Budget allocated under CER activities is Rs. 30 Lakhs (2% of the project cost).
(3.)FinancialIt is very expensive for health care establishments to make their own arrangement (captive facilities) for bio-medical waste treatment and disposal due to the high costs involved in operating individual facilities. The proposed common facility will help health care establishments dispose of their bio-medical waste in a scientific manner, in compliance with applicable Rules, at an affordable cost.
